Roof Tiles: Building A Beautiful And Stylish Home

Initially, regular shingle roofs were used but were not as attractive and have a variety as the roof tiles. The main purpose of a roof tile is to keep water, especially rainwater out of a home. They are made from a variety of materials and are very appealing when used. The materials used to make the roof tiles fortunately are naturally occurring and locally available. Examples are clay, slate, concrete, and metal. Roof tiles have an advantage over the shingle roof since they provide an unmatched variety of choices for the homeowner.

Roof tiles vary in their appearance, durability, strength, and budget and one can customize their home to their specifications. There are nine types of roof tiles as discussed below:

  • Slate roof tiles

Slate is a natural stone with a unique beautiful appearance since it produces dramatic colour ranges that are determined by time and nature. They are fire-resistant and long-lasting. Some of the disadvantages are that it is very heavy and requires a structure that is strong and reinforced. They are also expensive to place and repairs are therefore a problem.

  • Metal roof tiles

The most known materials used to make metal roof tiles are copper, aluminum, zinc, and steel. They can be made in different designs and shapes. They are common due to their lightweight and are easy to install. The disadvantages include, they are dangerous to walk on when wet, they are noisy, easily get dents, and do not provide insulation since they conduct heat.

  • Concrete roof tiles

They are affordable and easy to find. They are designed into various shapes to make them attractive. However, due to their weight, it requires a structure with reinforcements and should be installed by experts.

  • Composite roof tiles

They are made from natural and manmade materials hence have many advantages over other roof tiles made from materials such as concrete or metal. They can be customized in various colours and styles and are lighter.

  • Solar roof tiles

They replace the other standard roofing materials since they produce electricity by drawing solar power. Most people prefer them for their performance and not physical appeal. They are a bit costly and require roofing experts to install, maintain, and repair.

  • Clay roof tiles

The material for making clay roof tiles is readily available. They are manually shaped, dried in the sun, and installed on the roof. However, recently machines have been developed that produce an equally beautiful product. They come in a wide range of colours, shapes and are sealed to be water-resistant. They require expertise when installing since they are fragile and heavy.

  • Synthetic Barrel roof tiles

They provide Spanish viler beauty. The advantages of using them are, they are recyclable, fire-resistant, do not require reinforcement, do not require maintenance, and come in a variety of colour combinations.

  • Synthetic slate Roof tiles

They are light and do not break easily but require that they be free from breaking upon freezing due to water accumulated on the gutter freezing during winter. They offer limitless colour options, are light and environmentally friendly.

  • Synthetic cedar roof tiles

They are made from composite materials and are not prone to breaking, cracking, splitting, rot, fungus since they are made from a material that does not hold water. They are beautiful, lightweight, and easy to place.

Conclusion

Roof tiles have many advantages and provide an opportunity to customize a home. They can meet home-owners style and expectations while providing them with quality services and diversity. Most of the roof tiles are also durable and will give service to a home for a long time. The opportunity to also choose a preferable type that is within your budget is available while maintaining your taste and building a beautiful home.
