Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga Agboola 

Olugbenga Agboola is an acclaimed entrepreneur and engineer who was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He has brought his innovations in the financial industry to the U.S. with a company that has given companies and the public more access to their finances and given them easier banking. He is the CEO of Flutterwave, an innovative company that provides a number of financial services that can be accessed through phones. He co-founded this company and started out as its chief technology officer. Olugbenga Agboola has been recognized many times for his innovation and work in the financial industry. In 2019, he was included in the Quartz Africa Innovators. He was on the US Africa Business Summit panel and spoke to the crowd attending Transforming African Economies Through Digitalization. He was also chosen in 2019 as one of just six entrepreneurs in Africa to be a part of Endeavor, a non-profit that provides support to entrepreneurs around the globe that are making a big impact on the world. In 2020, Olugbenga Agboola announced that he had raised a full $35 million so that Flutterwave could allow for more payments. The funds came in handy for expanding the company into various other countries. He has also led the company through another financing round that included companies like MasterCard and Fintech Collective investing in Flutterwave.

He also is on the board of directors for the distinguished Corporate Council on Africa. He is a member of the Impact Council for Fast Company magazine. He’s one of the entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and technologists that make up this council.

Education

Olugbenga Agboola has always prized education, and he sought out continuing education for many years to learn all of the skills he needed to make it in fintech. He has a degree from MIT and has attended other prestigious schools such as Northwestern University and Wharton. He has continued to attend programs that teach leadership and other important skills so that he can do his best in the industry. He also has a master’s degree in IT security and behavioral engineering. He has made big waves in the financial industry and will continue to do so.
